Despite a Monday deadline from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Occupy LA protesters say they have no plans of moving.

Although a few have already left, most said they intend to stay put. Instead, protesters got busy preparing themselves for clashes with authority, knowing if they stay put, that will more than likely take place. Dozens have even attended a class on resistance tactics, including how to stay safe when dealing with rubber bullets, tear gas and pepper spray.

As we’ve seen in other cities, most protesters have no problem dealing with the risk of arrest. As long as their voices are heard, they will remain with the movement.

DETAILS: Occupy L.A. Gets Eviction Notice!

Of the eviction, Mayor Villaraigosa stated, “The movement is at a crossroads…it is time for Occupy LA to move from holding a particular patch of park land to spreading the message of economic justice and signing more people up for the push to restore the balance to American society.”

He also stated that the camp of about 485 tents was unsustainable because public health and safety could not be maintained, and the park had to be cleared, cleaned and restored for the public’s access.
