It was party time in D.C last night as President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted the five recipients of the 34th Kennedy Center Honors.

The party started with the White House reception honoring the recipients, then it moved to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Actors, musicians and rock legends were among the this year’s honorees. Singers Neil Diamond and Barbara Cook, classical cellist Yo-Yo Ma, jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins and Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep were all honored for their accomplishments.

The Prez rocked his usual black tux, while the First Lady donned a lovely blue gown.

It’s the third time the President will be saluting the Kennedy Center honorees – in the previous two years, he’s paid tribute to such luminaries as Bruce Springsteen, Robert De Niro, Dave Brubeck, Merle Haggard, Paul McCartney and Oprah Winfrey.

The gala will be broadcast on CBS Dec. 27th!
