Fashion luminary Valentino and actress Anne Hathaway unveiled the first ever virtual museum of fashion yesterday at the Museum of Modern Art.
The museum features art and fashion collections by Valentino Garavani and his longtime partner Giancarlo Giammetti. Via a downloadable app, it lets users connect to an Valentino-Garavani database to access historic moments in the designer’s house, ad campaigns, sketches and illustrations, as well as view an online archive of over 300 dresses.
Franca Sozanni, Eric Wilson, and F.I.T’s Valerie Steele were all on hand for the unveiling.
“Today we are witnessing the birth of a revolution and I do not believe that word is hyperbolic,” Anne said. “This will change art, the art world and how we experience art forever.”
