UPDATE 8:45 AM EST

Jerry Sandusky waived his preliminary hearing, a decision that moves him toward a trial on charges of child sex abuse and vacates the possibility that he would face his accusers in court Tuesday.

The judge was set to hear testimony from Sandusky’s accusers and then decide if there was enough evidence to justify a trial. By waiving his right to a prelim, the case will automatically be set for a full trial.

Sandusky told reporters as he left the courthouse that he would “stay the course, fight for four quarters” and would present his side of the story later.

The time has come for disgraced ex-Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, 67, to face his alleged victims. The former Penn State coach arrived at a Centre County courthouse in Bellefonte, Pa. this morning, where he’ll face his accusers in the child sex-abuse case against him.

Sandusky acknowledges that he in fact did shower with boys, but says he didn’t molest them and vows to fight the charges. Sandusky has been claiming his innocence from day one.

Investigators say Sandusky met the boys through his charity, The Second Mile, which he founded to help troubled children.
