This was definitely the year of change as Time Magazine named “The Protester” person of the year.

STORY: TIME Magazine Person Of The Year Is Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg

Protesters from Tahrir Square to Zuccotti Park reshaped global politics like never before, forcing Time to hear their voice and crown “The Protesters” Person of the Year for 2011.

Last year the honor went to Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Protests in the Middle East and North Africa became the catalyst of a worldwide revolution that changed the conversation of world politics. The ousting of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak led to the Libyan people rising and revolting against Muammar Gaddafi, eventually leading to his capture and killing.

We are still witnessing the effects of the Occupy Wall Street revolution and hearing stories from Occupiers all over the world. We don’t know yet where the movement will take us, but one thing’s for sure, the voice of the people is here to stay.

The Protesters certainly were the most influential people of 2011.
