What made you want to do a documentary?

I think my life is a movie. I just think all the things I’ve done have been based on life experiences. What better way to make an album and a soundtrack to your life? It’s your Day One to where you are now. They understand you more. A lot of people didn’t understand why I was standoffish and always did my own thing. They thought I was crazy. I still am though.

You’re such a trill person, it’s a great idea that you’re telling your life story.

I didn’t wanna do it at first, but when you think about the late greats, 2Pac, Biggie, Big L, Big Pun…cats like that; they never got a chance to control their story. Always you find out how great they are after they’re gone. So I just felt like let me go and get mine now. It’s dope. I think it motivates and is an inspiration for anybody, but a lot of people that’s been around through the years have seen my trials and my trills and my triumph. I think it’s dope for them to see because they probably never knew all these little things were going on in between that they didn’t even know.

And the fact that Samuel L Jackson…that sh*t was crazy. He was the perfect person to tell my life. I grew up watching Samuel and his career and I was like “Man, he’s one of us.” For him to narrate my life, it was a big deal for me. Then for him to understand it, because he’s probably been through a few things himself, you can tell by the way he’s speaking on it. It’s like it came to him naturally. It wasn’t like he was asking somebody to do something he wasn’t familiar with.

I just think all and all it’s dope and it gives my fans and the people who ride with me…even the people who may not like me or understand me, at least put them in a mind set of ‘Well, we know where he came from.’ And I want them to see where I’m about to go because it’s all about your future. But I’m showing you a little bit of my past. I’m about to move on. I’m bout to hit the gas on they asses.
