What a tragedy!

Erasmus Hall High School student Alfredo Allen, 15, was stabbed with a pair of scissors by Chevoy Nelson, 16, over a basketball.

Students said that Chevoy stabbed Alfredo in the head with scissors after Alfredo stole a basketball from him and would not give it back.

According to the Daily News, Chevoy is in special education and has been described by his school as emotionally disturbed.

David Scott, a student who was playing soccer at the time, said he saw Alfredo’s “head wide open” and ran away from the scene.

Freshman Jessica Sanchez, who was playing double dutch at the time said Chevoy:

“…went behind Allen and grabbed him by his neck and stabbed him seven times. Allen was screaming, he was saying ‘oh sh*t’. He didn’t believe it either! I saw all the blood and I ran. I didn’t want him coming after me…”

The incident occurred very quickly according to senior Wayne Morgan who said: “He stabbed Alfredo in the head like seven times. The teacher was there, but it’s not like he let it happen – the whole thing happened in like 5 seconds.”

Chevoy has been arrested by police for assault with a weapon and Alfredo is in the hospital and in critical condition.

This is just another example of why communities need to make stronger efforts against bullying. Cheyvon, who was described as never looking for trouble, was obviously provoked.

We hope the best for both Alfredo and Chevoy…
