GlobalGrind received word of some sad news out in Atlanta: former NFL pro Chris Draft, 35, lost his wife Keasha to cancer one month after they were married.

As Reported By The YBF:

The fairytale came to an end Tuesday–one month to the day of their wedding–as Keasha Rutledge Draft lost her battle with cancer, a longtime friend of Chris’ has confirmed to TheYBF.com.

Chris’ friends are also asking everyone to send prayers to the families as they navigate this difficult time.

Draft’s media manager, Sidmel Estes, stated that the funeral services will be held in South Carolina on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Olu Brown, of Impact United Methodist Church in Atlanta, officiating.

A sixth-round pick out of Stanford by the Chicago Bears in 1998, Chris went on to play 12 years in the NFL for seven different teams.

Chris is definitely one of the good guys in the NFL. In fact back in 2002, he helped pull a man from a burning car on Interstate-85 in Duluth, Ga.

His helping hand didn’t stop there, in 2006, he established the Chris Draft Family Foundation.

The Foundation focuses on seven primary initiatives that stress the importance of education, healthy lifestyles, character development, personal responsibility, self-discipline and physical fitness.

The Foundation seeks partnerships with local and national community health organizations, school districts and non-profits across the country, striving to empower and uplift communities by educating and equipping families to make healthier choices.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris and his family. Watch the touching video below of the couple getting married.
