Chris Draft And His Beloved Wife Keasha (PHOTOS)
Former 12 year NFL pro Chris Draft, 35, lost his wife Keasha, 38, to lung cancer on Tuesday, one month after they were married and the outpour of support for Chris has been overwhelming.
In one of his final messages to his beloved wife, Chris wrote a post on his foundation’s website, saying-
“She courageously faced lung cancer, showing us all with every breath that we all need to hold onto life and love with both hands for as long as we can.
Not just an inspiration, but a light, and a force that led the way with a beautiful, sweet smile and bright shining eyes that both belied the pure steel of her strength and determination.
Strong is too pale, too shallow and too small of a word to describe Keasha’s vibrancy … Quite simply, she was ferocious.
She fiercely held onto life, and love with a forcefulness that was absolutely awe-inspiring and completely breathtaking. Rest in peace, Mrs. Draft.”
A touching tribute from a man who had unconditional love for his wife.
A sixth-round pick out of Stanford by the Chicago Bears in 1998, Chris went on to play 12 years in the NFL for seven different teams.
Chris is definitely one of the good guys in the NFL. In fact back in 2002, he helped pull a man from a burning car on Interstate-85 in Duluth, Ga.
His helping hand didn’t stop there, in 2006, he established the Chris Draft Family Foundation.
The Foundation focuses on seven primary initiatives that stress the importance of education, healthy lifestyles, character development, personal responsibility, self-discipline and physical fitness.
The Foundation seeks partnerships with local and national community health organizations, school districts and non-profits across the country, striving to empower and uplift communities by educating and equipping families to make healthier choices.
Funeral services will be held in South Carolina on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Olu Brown, of Impact United Methodist Church in Atlanta, officiating.
