The Killers haven’t dropped an album since 2008’s Day & Age. But 2012 looks like the year that will change.

MUSIC: The Killer’s Frontman Goes Solo

Killers front man Brandon Flowers told BBC yesterday that the group has been in the studio working on a new album and that we can expect it sometime in “the summertime or the wintertime.”

STORY: Sleigh Bells Push Back New Album

In 2010 the group took a short break when Flowers decided to release his solo album, Flamingo. Now that the hiatus is over, Flowers said he wants to get everyone together and continue to do what The Killers do best.

“I think the consensus within the band is to take those things that we’ve done well and really hone in on that. We don’t want to make Hot Fuss 2 or Sam’s Town 2, or Day & Age 2. We’ll maybe take all that stuff, the best of all of it and do what we know how to do.”

We’re interested to see what direction The Killers will take next and hoping they get back to the wit and swagger that made their debut album so irresistible.
