Former Miss USA Rima Fakih was arrested by Detroit police in Highland Park on suspicion of drunk driving in early December.

Today, January 18, the beauty queen appeared in court for her DUI case hearing. “My parents are afraid I’m going to jail,” she told GlobalGrind exclusively.

The judge was expecting Rima’s team of lawyers to hash out a plea agreement that would settle the matter, but her lawyers didn’t, and the judge was not pleased.

DETAILS: SAY IT AIN’T SO! Rima Fakih Facing Jail Time

We spoke with Rima after her hearing and she let us in on the situation she is currently going through.

“There were over 30 media outlets there including the AP, CNN, Arab Media and Yahoo!, India Times…this shows me that I’m internationally known but it also scares me. I feel like the judge was being extra rude because of it. I feel like they are trying to make an example out of me.”

Rima continued, “I saw Kim Kardashian after the Golden Globes and I discussed my situation with her. She told me once you’re in the spotlight, people will do whatever they can to bring you down.”

Rima’s bench trial will take place on March 14. Until then Rima says,

“I’m trying to be a good leader, and I want to be treated fairly.”

We wish Rima the best during this difficult time and hope she comes out on top.
