In the interview last night, he said: “I second-guess constantly…I make a mistake, you know, every hour, every day.”

He adding:

“But when you look at the broad outlines of what we did, had it not been for the steps we took our economy would be profoundly weaker than we are right now.”

On the issue of food stamps the President said he isn’t the food stamp President, Bush was.

“First of all, I don’t put people on food stamps. People become eligible for food stamps.

Second of all, the initial expansion of food-stamp eligibility happened under my Republican predecessor, not under me.

Number three, when you have a disastrous economic crash that results in 8 million people losing their jobs, more people are going to need more support from government.”

He also spoke on the intense encounter he had with Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, telling Sawyer that Republicans are always mad at him.
