Safe House is a non-stop action thriller that’s edge-of-your-seat intense.  Between the car chases, gun-fights, explosions, and amazing effects, you won’t want to leave the theater.

The movie opens with CIA agent Matt Weston getting in a little quality time with his girlfriend Ana. The darling couple share kisses over breakfast, before freshening up by showering together. Right from the start you get a feeling that Weston – played by Ryan Reynolds – is in for an amazing day.

Cue in Denzel Washington, who walks down the street sporting a scruffy goatee and untamed afro, giving a brand new meaning to smooth criminal. He’s a fugitive up to no good, as he demands money from a man on the phone saying “Pay me by 3, or I’ll find another buyer.” The caller asks, “How do I know you won’t do that anyway?” A cold Denzel replies, “You don’t.”

With the call ended, it’s time for some action. Denzel walks into a restaurant and sits at a table for a meeting with a spy. The spy hands him a microchip filled with priceless information that’s going to put his life in danger.

Director Daniel Espinosa works wonders behind the camera, wasting no time getting the action started.

The first of many battles ensues, when Denzel finds himself on the run, drastically trying to escape with his microchip prize. He finds himself cornered and with no other place to go, he turns to the government for protection. Denzel walks into the American Embassy after years of being on the run, flashes his passport and says, “I’m Tobin Frost.” The government is shocked that a rogue agent would purposely turn himself in but end up putting him in a safe house where Weston works.

Safe House is an amazing flick that left me thinking that Denzel is at his best when he is playing the antagonist. Weston is forced to trust America’s most wanted fugitive when rebels attack the safe house and Tobin and Weston are on the run for their lives. The film is filled with twists and turns that will leave your heart pounding from pure adrenaline.

Safe House will prove that there is “No Church in the Wild.” This movie is highly entertaining and a must-see for action lovers.

Safe House is now playing in theaters.
