Skillfully mastered rhythms and soothing melodious tones set the tone as British musician Ed Sheeran sang his hits while playing acoustic guitar for a private screening at Atlantic records on Monday.

The self-proclaimed “ginger head” musician got the crowd pumping during his musical performance. Singing three of his hit singles: “Give Me Love,” “The A Team” and “You Need Me I Don’t Need You,” Sheeran turned the performance into an all-out jam session as he requested for members of the audience to sing along with him.
The crowd joined right along in unison and ooo la-la’s could soon be heard throughout the room. A humble and comical Sheeran joked, “This is quite fun, you all are actually better than my UK crowd.”
Flashing a smile and introducing the next song, “The A Team,” a hit EP that has recently climbed the UK charts, Sheeran revealed that his inspiration behind writing the song came after he visited a homeless shelter in his home country of England.
There was a woman who went by the name of Angel that captured his attention and the attention of many others in the shelter. Sheeran then learned that at the end of the day she would be asked to leave the shelter to make way for others. Captivated and mesmerized by her story and others in the shelter, Sheeran composed the lyrics for the hit song singing, “It’s too cold outside for angels to fly and for angels to die.”
Sheeran then quickly switched gears from the soulful lyrics of the first two songs to give the audience a dose of his dope MC skills. “You Don’t Need Me I, Need Don’t Need You” is an upbeat track laden with the truth and speaks volumes about the poverty and hardships the talented musician has encountered on his road to success.
Sheeran declares, “Here’s a song that probably won’t get as much radio play.” He then proceeds to win over the crowd rapping, “I sing, I write my own tune and I write my own verse, hell don’t need another wordsmith to make my tune sell.”
Ending the performance with a bang!
Sheeran raps a line that sounds like he pulled it straight from Big Pun’s book of rhymes, “They say I’m up-and-coming like I’m f*cking in an elevator, cause you need me, man, I don’t need you,” proving to the audience that he is a force to be reckoned with.
We definitely can’t wait to see this British sensation turn into an American superstar, but for now, we know he’s well on his way.
