Octavia Spencer has had such a successful new year and it’s only January!
Her performance in The Help earned the 39-year-old actress a Golden Globe, and just last night, a SAG award as well. Despite her current success, Spencer has expressed concern about her weight.

Backstage at the SAG awards, the actress admitted:
“I am not healthy at this weight…Any time you have too much around the middle, then there is a problem. [And] when you reach a certain weight, you are less valuable.” Spencer also went on to say, “I feel for the overly thin women as much as I do for the overweight women. It … has to change.”
She blames “society” for the stereotypes that are associated with certain body types.

The outspoken actress did have a word or two for those thin actresses out there.
“If more women ate, they would be a lot happier, Let me tell you, I am a lot grumpier when I don’t eat.”
We couldn’t have said it better. Nothin’ wrong with a lil bit of extra meat on your bones!
