Former University of Virginia (UVA) lacrosse player George Huguely, 24, is on trial for the murder of his former girlfriend Yeardley Love.

The latest and most shocking news comes after prosecutors found that George sent an email to Yeardley days before her murder saying, “I should have killed you…”

According to the NY Daily News, George faces 6 charges, which include first-degree murder, felony murder, robbery, burglary, statutory burglary and grand larceny.

22-year-old Yeardley Love, who was also a lacrosse player at UVA, was found dead in 2010 in her off-campus apartment.

George went to Yeardley’s apartment on the night of her murder but his defense attorney, Francis Lawrence maintained that it was “to talk, to make up, to work things out.”

His attorneys are also claiming that George took his then-girlfriend’s laptop the night of the murder to “to get her to reach out” to him. However, prosecutors in Virginia are saying that he confiscated the laptop to destroy evidence.

We hope that the trial brings out the truth involving Yeardley’s murder. Our condolences go out to her friends and family.
