Yesterday in Katmandu, Nepal, Chandra Bahadur Dangi became the world’s shortest individual ever recorded!

The 72-year-old man, who is close to the size of a toddler, stands at a mere 21.5 inches tall (54.6 centimeters).

Dangi received two certificates: one for being the world’s shortest living man and one for being the world’s shortest person recorded in Guinness’s 57-year-old history.

He told reporters after getting the certificates, “I am very happy. Now I want to travel across Nepal and to foreign countries.” Dangi doesn’t want to get married or have children, but does want to meet the Prime Minister of Nepal soon. We think Chandra has a good chance – especially now that he is famous all over the world!

The shortest man ever recorded lives in a remote village with his five brothers. They are all average height.

Apparently, before being measured this past weekend, Dangi never went to see a doctor, but his family said that he was never really sick or had any injuries.

Last December, Guinness declared an Indian teenager the shortest woman ever. She is 24.7 inches tall and has dreams of becoming a Bollywood Star.
