They say that when something is a classic, your best bet is to just leave it alone.
Mercedes Benz has no choice but to update their classics and keep up with the times, but the SL is a car that every generation can’t deny is the quintessential “it” car.
Even if it wasn’t always the most expensive car on the road, the Mercedes Benz SL always commands respect or attention, regardless of its color or the year.
Obviously Mercedes Benz knows the impact the SL has had. The car has been featured in different music videos and movies throughout time and will probably continue making appearances for as long as it is updated.
To celebrate the series’ 60 year anniversary, Irvine, California-based Mercedes-Benz Classic Center will be hosting a special commemorative showcase to the SL series titled: “Timeless: 60 Years of the Mercedes-Benz SL.”
The event will highlight every model from the automaker’s extensive 60-year archive. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz has pledged a substantial donation on behalf of its SL Series to the Film Foundation to aid in the organization’s film restoration efforts.
