It’s an unfortunate fact: after nearly every celebrity passes away, almost immediately, his or her items go up for auction.

Whitney Houston, who met her tragic end a little more than two weeks ago, is now part of that group.

The icon’s dresses and accessories will be up for sale at Julien Auctions in Beverly Hills, several blocks from the hotel where she was found dead.

According to The Daily News, a black velvet dress and a pair of earrings that belonged to Houston are just two of the items that will be sold to the highest bidder.

Julien, the owner of Julien Auctions, said, “Her items can increase 10, 20 even 30 times compared to their previous value prior to her death. These items become part of history really.” He then went on to say, “It’s a reason to celebrate her life, not put these items in a box under the bed … Her items are now more sought after.”

Julien Auctions currently has about 15 of Whitney’s dresses and all of the clothing will be carefully examined to make sure that the belongings are genuine.

The owner anticipates each dress to go for anywhere from a few thousands, to tens of thousands of dollars.

These items are part of a larger celebrity auction called “Hollywood Legends,” which will also include items owned by Charlie Chaplin, Princess Diana and Charlton Heston.

The auction will take place on March 31 and April 1st.
