STORY: REBUILT! One Year Later & Japan Is Back!
The spirit of change was evident when young people in 38 countries raised $500,000 and made millions of Paper Cranes for Reconstruction Efforts in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami that devastated the country.

Immediately following the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, DoSomething.org and Students Rebuild took action.
The campaign Paper Cranes for Japan challenged young people worldwide to make and mail-in paper cranes with a wish of hope and healing, and trigger funding for Japan’s recovery.
Their goal was to have 100,000 cranes; but through the dedication and effort, the result was 2 million cranes and $500,000 in donations for rebuilding projects in the Tohoku region.
Paper Cranes created a 4-minute film, which tells their story of how everything came together for Japan, with never-before-seen footage, including the unveiling of a massive sculpture in Sendai Train Station using 100,000 of the cranes.
Paper Cranes inspired a global movement that mobilized thousands of young people in 38 countries and all fifty states to support their Japanese peers.
