Time Out New York decided to count down the best 100 songs about NYC in their latest print issue, and what cover would be more appropriate for a such an issue than one that features the originators of Hip-Hop, Run DMC?

A retro photo of the Hollis natives in their famed shell toe Adidas and leather hip hop get-ups (complete with a boom box of course) is featured on the cover as the hip hop originators’ “Christmas in Hollis” makes the list as one of the best songs about New York City.

The 100 song list sees appearances from acts such as Simon & Garfunkel, to newer bands such as Vampire Weekend with Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind.”
