Photos from the fifth collaboration between Stockholm store Sneakersnstuff and New Balance have been released! The thing that separates this collaboration from the last four is that they commissioned help from Milkcrate Athletics very own Aaron LaCrate.

Aaron and the guys at Sneakersnstuff got a chance to customize a New Balance 577 shoe and we have to admit, what they came up is nothing short of a classic.

The shoes, made by hand in the famous New Balance factory in Flimby, England, come in both a multicolored and grayscale version. The first is a mix of brightly colored, contrasting hues of yellow, lavender, pink and blues – the second is a grayscale version of the other colorway.

Some may say that the multicolored version is perfect for spring or even Easter, but it’s actually a throwback to the type of colors that Milkcrate Athletics is known for.

The sneakers will be available at Sneakersnstuff Stockholm and Malmö on March 24th and online at Sneakersnstuff.com on March 26th, 2012. But we got a chance to chop it up with Aaron ahead of time. We found out about the inspiration for the kicks, how he got involved in the project and even what his favorite pair of New Balances are. You can check out the interview below and a few close up pics of the kicks in the gallery above.

GlobalGrind: How did you get involved with the project?

Aaron LaCrate: Sneakersnstuff has been distributing Milkcrate in Sweden and Scandinavia since 2003.

So since you guys have such a long relationship, when they were approached to design the shoe’s colorway, they asked you to be a part of it?

Exactly. They have done a few different ones previously and this is a project that we have been taking about doing for a while. Plus they know I’m nice with the colorways.

Speaking of the colorway, were you involved with creating both colorways in the collaboration?

I did the multicolor and the other one is just the grayscale version of that. The multicolored one is based on a lot of the Milkcrate tees and things that we have done. We’re known for being a bit colorful in streetwear, and then we just hit the grayscale button and made the other one, which is more classic. New Balance is known for the classic grey, so we had to represent for the classic grey colorway.

So the colorway is a return to what Milkcrate is known for.

Yeah, I’ve gotten to be known for that, especially with the Aaron LaCrate hat, which is various neon bright colors. A lot of people in streetwear always use darker colors like black, white, grey and red but me coming from more of an art and fashion background and even as a graffiti kid, color just gives you more to play with. It’s just about flipping colorways. That always takes things to a different dimension

Do you have a favorite pair of New Balances other than the pair you just made?

Yeah man, I actually do. There are a pair of Tokyo exclusive New Balance MT580s that I really love.
