New York Knicks’ head coach Mike D’Antoni has given up his $24 million/4 year contract!

STORY: LINSANITY! The 411 On Knicks’ Newfound Star Jeremy Lin

According to the Associated Press, Mike will be resigning shortly and Mike Woodson will be taking his spot until the Knicks find a permanent head coach.

Mike’s resignation comes amidst a struggling Knicks team that has lost six games in a row for the second time this season. Knicks star player Carmelo Anthony just hours ago said that there was no issue regarding D’Antoni and management and said that he supported his coach “100 percent.”

As reported by the Associated Press:

His departure comes less than a month after he seemed rejuvenated by the emergence of Jeremy Lin, the undrafted point guard from Harvard who came off the end of the bench and proved to be the player who could properly run D’Antoni’s offensive system.

But the success didn’t last once Anthony returned, with the Knicks going 2-8 in a season that D’Antoni said should see them contend for a championship.

It’s sad to see our old friend go, but a team’s gotta do what’s necessary to compete. Hopefully this was the right decision for the Knicks.
