Empowering girl groups have reemerged into the forefront of music.

Girl power and the promotion of positivity among women comes single-handedly from three teenage girls determined to live out their dreams.

Star (Tiny & T.I’s daughter), Baby Doll, and Beauty are the faces of the OMG Girlz, and according to these young ladies, they’re ready to take on the world.

Coming off the infamous “Scream” tour with Diggy Simmons, Mindless Behavior and Jacob Latimore, the OMG Girlz are setting their sights on the debut of their forthcoming album.

The OMG Girlz stopped by GlobalGrind offices to chit-chat about their album, advice from Lady Gaga and of course, “boy talk” with rapper T.I.

Check out the exclusive interview below!

GlobalGrind: You girls have blown up and we’ve seen your progress over the years. “Gucci This” has over a million YouTube views, and you girls were on tour. How exciting is it to be on the road and fulfilling your dreams?

Baby Doll: We actually love being on the road. The only thing we don’t like about being on the road is packing, but once we’re on the road – we love working.

We love going to the radio stations and doing the interviews. We love doing drop sets – that’s our favorite part.

What are some of your favorite moments on tour?

Star: Our favorite moments are meeting our fans. We love meeting our fans, performing and seeing how they react to our performances. Going to a lot of places at first, like in the first “Scream” tour, we didn’t think we had lots of fans, but we learned that we did have a lot of fans. The learning experience was really nice.

If you guys could give advice to any other young girls who wanted to live their dreams and become singers, what advice would you give them?

Beauty: I would just tell them to keep going no matter what. A lot of people told us that we wouldn’t be able to do this, we would break-up, and that we wouldn’t be where we are today. Just keep pushing for your dream. If you want it, you can definitely get it.

Baby Doll: Stay grounded, keep your family around you, keep God first, and school is very important. It’s a lot of hard work to get where you want to go, but just don’t give up because you can do it.

You guys do online schooling or have a home school teacher that travels with you?

Baby Doll: Online, everything is online.

That takes a lot of extra effort.

Beauty: You kind of have to teach yourself.

Baby Doll: Yeah, it takes a lot of discipline.

What are some of your musical inspirations? Who are some of the people you look up to?

Star: As a group, we really admire TLC, SWV, Xscape, Destiny’s Child. I’m a big fan of Aaliyah, Beyonce, and Christina Aguilera.

Beauty: All of us are by the way.

Star: I like Lady Gaga. She shouted us out on Twitter the other day, and they say she doesn’t usually do that. She just did it on her own. We talked to her, and she was just being super sweet. She said she just loved what we were doing, loved us, and couldn’t wait to tie little bows in our hair. I would love for her to make me a hair bow. I’m not even going to lie. That would be beautiful.

How did you ladies come up with your name “The OMG Girlz?”

Star: At first when it was four of us, we were all in the studio. We were thinking of a lot of names, and we came up with stupid things at first. Then OMG was one of the things that came up, and then we added the girls on there. Everybody thought that was cute and liked it. It meant OMG (Oh My Gosh) at first, but when it became the three of us, it meant “Of Miss Guided” now with two “s’s” – Girls who are guided, not girls who aren’t misguided. That’s what people always think first, but it’s miss with two s’s.

Baby Doll: It’s girls who are guided by other girls. We’re really on like a “Girl Power” movement because a lot of girls our age, all they see on TV are just women fighting, arguing. They’re being dependent on somebody, and we’re just trying to let them know you can be a girl, and get money together, not have to argue, and you could be independent, not have to depend on anybody to get you what you want.

If I was a genie, and I could give you girls three wishes, what three wishes would you wish for?

Star: My first wish would be to have Fairy Godparents so that I could have wishes all the time.

Baby Doll: I was thinking about Fairy Godparents when you said that. That’s crazy! I would probably to take back getting a perm in my hair. I still have good hair, but I would want my hair to be how it was when I was younger.

Beauty: One of my wishes…If I got a wish right now, I would wish for some food, for a lifetime supply of food forever anywhere I am.

What’s your favorite food?

Beauty: I love soul food.

Are you always snacking?

Beauty: Yeah!

Soul food is your favorite meal. What’s your favorite snack?

Beauty: I like sunflower seeds a lot, and it’s healthy too! It’s a little quick pick me up. I like sunflower seeds, Starburst – just candy, which is crazy because I have braces.

You ladies sing about “Gucci this, Gucci that,” who are your favorite designers?

Beauty: Actually I just go with whatever’s cute. I really like Marc Jacobs a lot, but I just go wherever I find cute stuff, Forever 21 and H&M. Sometimes you can find really cute old vintage stuff in thrift stores. It’s whatever you like.

Star: We’re not really big designer people. People always listen to the song, and think they only wear Gucci, they only wear Louis, and when you watch our shows, we probably wear Gucci & Louis once. Other than that, we like shopping Forever 21 the most. That’s our favorite shop to go in.

Beauty: We like Adidas too. I’m Adidas down today. I got on my shoes, and I got on my Adidas shirt.

Baby Doll: Forever 21, Forever 21, Star covered it. I’ll even go to Marshall’s and Target. TJ Maxx!

Do you ladies ever get nervous before you go on stage?

Star: Before our performances, on the Scream tour or anything we do, we’ll be in the back going over moves, screaming to each other. “Alright, we’re about to kill this, where we at?!” but we’re usually very nervous until we walk on stage and do our little entrance. Then, the music comes on, and the nervousness goes away.

T.I. has been a big influence on you ladies, what’s been the best advice he’s given you?

Beauty: I could say, from a business standpoint he always tells us don’t just be an artist, be in your business as well. Always ask questions. Always ask why, how something works, what a contract is, what does it mean? Be a critical thinker and analyze different things.

Baby Doll: He’s very strict about school as well. He’ll get on us about grades, and he also said he wants us to be intelligent, not like how rappers are now – unintelligent.

On VH1’s The Family Hustle, T.I. gives you ladies a hard time about boys. Does the “boy talk” annoy you girls?

Star: I tell him like I’m tired of having a boy talk, because I understand him.

What are you ladies favorite things to do besides making music and touring?

Beauty: I like making people laugh. I think that’s one of my favorite pastimes. I don’t know what it is about making them laugh, but it just brings joy to my heart.

Star: I like going to my grandma’s house, and just laying on the bed, watching TV all day.

Baby Doll: I love to work out. I love to chill too, and go back home if I can, if I have time, but I love to work out.

What are you girls working on? What can we expect from you girls in the upcoming months?

Baby Doll:  We’re going to be picking our new single and we’ll be shooting new videos. Our album should be coming out early this Fall.

Do you have a name for the album? Can you share?

Beauty: We don’t have a name for it yet. We’re still in the process of deciding what songs are going to be on there, and still adding a few more songs so the name will come, but I think I know what I want to go with, but I won’t say yet.

What are some of your ladies favorite hip-hop artists?

Beauty: We love Jay-Z & Kanye West. I love Tupac, Bone Thugz-n-Harmony, Snoop Dogg. I really do! Just different people. We love Young Jeezy, and I love Tyga.

Star: I love Tupac, Eminem, I love his style; how he raps, Drake, and my dad [T.I.]. He’s cool!

Baby Doll: I also love Uncle Tip, Pac, that’s my father … I’m the female Pac. I love Drake, Machine Gun Kelly. I love J. Cole, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, and from way back when, I like Left Eye and Salt-n-Pepper. The list can go on for days.
