Ripley’s Believe It Or Not has long been known for bringing us mind blowing, gut wrenching, or sometimes downright unbelievable information and tidbits of history. But they have switched up the pace a little with their newest installment of Trashy Fashion Week.

The company put a stinky twist on a normally poised event when they challenged entrees to fabricate fashions entirely out of things one would normally find in a trash bin.

The entrees scavenged through their trash in search of fashion-ready discarded items, not all of the entrees could make trashy look fashionable, but the three winners, all under the age of 18, rose to the challenge and produced some pretty spiffy trash.

The first place winners, Amani Grant and Analise Barnard, made a dress entirely out of coffee filters, cleverly named “High Energy,” that was fit for a high-fashion runway. And get this; the ingenious design duo is a pair of 12 year olds.

The fashion show, however, was no child’s play. A 15-year-old designed a gorgeous gown fashioned out of artfully folded newspapers and playbills.

Another entry constructed an evening gown out of used paintbrushes and a paper bag.

The trashy fashion show was held at Ripley’s museum in St. Augustine, Florida over the weekend.

Take a look at the fashions in the gallery above, and believe it or not, these dresses are made from trash.

The winning dresses will be on display in the Ripley’s museum.
