Many who have written, tweeted or blogged about the Trayvon Martin case and its underlining racial profiling have been subjected to taunts and even verbal attacks.

STORY: George Zimmerman To Turn Himself In

That’s what CNN’s Don Lemon is currently facing regarding his coverage of Trayvon Martin’s death.

On Sunday, Lemon informed his viewing audience of the hate-filled tweets that have come across his timeline while covering Trayvon’s case.

Lemon said:

“Please don’t send me any more tweets that by having this conversation, I’m a racist or a race-baiter. This is a conversation we all need to have, so relax on that.”

He called some of the responses “disgusting” and “ridiculous.” He read one tweet aloud that said:

“Don Lemon, you are a racist. You are fixated on this one issue over and over. We want to hear the news, not your personal agenda. Go work for BET.”

Lemon later remarked:

“That was the nice one. He didn’t call me the n-word.”

That fact of the matter is, anyone on the side of justice for Trayvon has been seen as a race-baiter or racist for suggesting that George Zimmerman killed Trayvon for being a “suspicious person,” which is what he told 911 dispatchers the night he encountered Trayvon.

Trayvon was unarmed when he was shot by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman on February 26.
