NYPD officials arrested Victor Montalvo, 22, and Maritza Lopez, 21, the man and woman wanted in the vicious stabbing on Saturday night.

Montalvo was riding a southbound No. 4 train with his gal pal Lopez when he allegedly swiped a cell phone from Herald. When Herald awoke, he noticed his phone was gone and spotted Montalvo holding it as the train rolled into the Fordham Road station in the Bronx.

Herald and his friend confronted Montalvo, and the argument spilled onto the platform, sources said. Montalvo pulled out a blade, while Herald’s pal got a token booth clerk to call 911, sources said.

But when he returned, he found Herald stabbed multiple times in his head and body lying in a pool of blood.

According to the New York Daily News, Herald was taken to St. Barnabas, where he was in critical condition.

Herald’s cousin, Chris Clarke, 21, said “He’s strong. He’ll get through this.”

Montalvo and Lopez fled the scene, but were caught on a nearby surveillance camera, cops said.

The couple, who live in an Inwood apartment just across the Harlem River from the scene of the crime, were later found and arrested.

They were each booked on charges that include attempted murder, harassment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

They were waiting to be arraigned Saturday.
