A family of seven plummeted to death when their van drove off the Bronx River Parkway over the weekend.

STORY: So Sad! 10-Year-Old Boy Beaten To Death By Stepfather

A day after 10-year-old Jocelyn Gonzalez celebrated her First Communion, the Bronx girl’s family was mourning her and six other relatives who perished on the Bronx River Parkway.

According to the New York Daily News, Jocelyn had her milestone achievement at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church in the Bronx on Saturday. Her entire family was there, including her grandparents who came from the Dominican Republic for the big event.

The joy the family shared was replaced by anguish on Sunday. Jocelyn, her mother, Maria Nunez-Gonzalez, her aunt, two cousins and beloved grandparents were all killed when their van plummeted off an overpass.

Juan Gonzalez, the father of Jocelyn and the husband of Maria Nunez-Gonzalez, was devastated:

“I don’t want to live anymore. I’m destroyed. I don’t want to be alive,” said the tearful livery cab driver.

Jocelyn’s brother, Jonel, 18, said he, his father and younger brother are reeling in grief, unable to fathom how they will go on without their loved ones:

“It’s just me and my father, my little brother. It’s hard,” he said.

He said his heart is also broken for his uncle, who lost his wife, Maria Nunez, 39, and his daughters, 7-year-old Niely and 3-year-old Marly. “Basically, he lost his family,” Jonel said.

Relatives said Maria Nunez was the mother of three daughters — two of whom died with her.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a statement:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this tragic time.”
