It was a gloomy day in Hip-Pop yesterday when we discovered that Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys passed away and last night Coldplay decided it was just the right time to give a tribute to the lost emcee.

The band covered the Beastie Boys’ best-known hits, “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” at their concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Singer Chris Martin led the performance giving the audience an acoustic version of the rap song.

Coldplay is no stranger to paying homage to music’s greats. At their August show last year they also paid tribute to Amy Winehouse 10 days after her passing.
