We’re back with round four of GlobalGrind’s MC Battle competition!

But before we get into the details of our latest candidates, let’s do a quick re-cap of the previous victors from out first three battles.

Round one, the north and the south went at it for the top spot. Pittsburg native Wiz Khalifa and Georgia’s very own 2Chainz went toe-to-toe. The people voted and Wiz took the crown on that one.

Last week we had MMG’s Meek Mill gunning for the top spot against his pseudo-label mate French Montana. With 75 percent of your votes, you all crowned Meek the king.

Round three was all about the ladies: Iggy Azalea vs. Azealia Banks. Though both femcees are known to tear it down on the mic, only one could walk way with the title. With 65 percent of your votes, Iggy swept the competition!

This week’s battle is a tough one, though. We have Pittsburgh native Mac Miller in one corner and Ohio emcee Machine Gun Kelly in the other.

“It’s been a long grind with a little bit of luck,” Mac Miller once freestyled during his 2011 XXL Freshman Cypher. He got his big break with the release of his fifth mixtape Best Day Ever, which featured hit singles like “Donald Trump” and notable producers like Just Blaze, 9th Wonder and Chuck Inglish.

His first studio album Blue Slide Park earned him the top spot as the first independent artist – since Tha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food (1995) – to reach number one on the Billboard 200 charts, moving 144,000 copies in its first week of sales.

However, wild boy Machine Gun Kelly is known to hold it down on his end as well. Before the Bad Boy rapper made it to the front pages, he was celebrating back-to-back victories on Harlem’s infamous Apollo stage.

In 2010, he was featured on MTV’s Sucker Free Freestyle series and gained notable exposure after the world got a chance to hear him spit. With five mixtapes already under his belt, MGK rocked his first SXSW stage in 2011.

His rock-rap persona caught the eye of Bad Boy music founder Sean Combs, and ultimately led to a record contract with the notable record label.

His debut studio album Half Naked & Almost Famous (March 2012) debuted in the top ten on the Billboard US Rap charts.

Both emcees carry some serious credentials, but only one can walk away with the title!

So who deserves it more? Mac Miller or Machine Gun Kelly?

Only a few more days are left until the highly anticipated film Battleship hits theaters this weekend, May 18th. The board game turned blockbuster movie stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson and our very own Bajan beauty Rihanna.
