No one can deny that Britney Spears has made a huge impression and set the standards high for today’s pop music.

Yet the Princess of Pop herself has been unable to make a true comeback after her breakdown in 2008.

Circus and Femme Fatale are fantastic powerhouse pop records that have been overshadowed by “zombie” public appearances and lackluster performances.

Britney Spears is no longer the music; she’s become a perfect manifestation of controversy for the media. But if Jennifer Lopez resurrected her career with an explosive comeback with the help of American Idol, can the “I Wanna Go” singer do it too?

Jennifer Lopez’s comeback not only involved American Idol, but a full media takeover: radio, TV and never ending public appearances.

However, J.Lo still oozes magnetism and is an amazing performer, whereas Britney Spears has become immobile and stagnant on stage.

American Idol gave the Bronx native a platform that showcased her personality, but also allowed her music to reach a whole new, younger fan base. X-Factor may be the perfect opportunity for Britney Spears to do exactly the same and to use her constant controversy to her advantage.

By taking the attention away from her missing spark and back to her snappy personality, she may just be able to re-solidify her reputation as an artist.

Some people may question whether J.Lo or Britney Spears are really fit for the job of judging a live singing competition when they have been caught lip-syncing.

Those people don’t seem to realize that it’s incredibly difficult to sing and dance and put on an incredible performance at the same time.

Starlets just can’t win when they are being scrutinized for everything they do, regardless of whether it’s done for the fans or not.

Judges aren’t necessarily picked for their own artistic merits though, they’re picked based on how much drama they can bring to the show and if anyone can bring drama … it’s definitely Britney Spears.
