Bieber fever has hit our schools! According to the New York Post, Justin Bieber‘s hit song “Baby” will replace a patriotic ballad in a Brooklyn school’s kindergarten graduation.

Principal of PS 90, Greta Hawkins, claims that Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” is not age appropriate for 5 year olds and has given the Bieber song the nod. Justin’s teen love song evidently makes a much better impression on the cootie-concerned toddlers.

Hawkins defends her decision, claiming that she does not want to offend other cultures by playing the patriotic song. City Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott agrees, stating, “You have to really wonder about some of the lyrics in the song.”

Apparently the two find the Canadian’s lyrics “Girl quit playin'” to be much more acceptable than “I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free.”

However, many parents do not agree that Bieber’s hit is more appropriate than the patriotic American standard, and are keen on ousting the song. Meanwhile, what kindergarten class would choose anyone, let alone Lee Greenwood, over J. Bieber?!
