Despite the rigid definitions of gender and sexuality that many mainstream rappers have been known to purport, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rappers have always existed, even if not openly.

Hot new artists like Azealia Banks and Kreayshawn have been open about being bisexual. Lil B’s I’m Gay (I’m Happy) album gained him a bevy of attention, even though the rapper has never openly announced his sexual orientation.

Cakes Da Killa is a 21-year-old New Jersey native whose EP Easy Bake Oven, vol. 1 is gathering a great deal of buzz for its raunchy, yet cleverly crafted lyrics.

Angel Haze, a Native American young woman known for her relentless rhyming speed and skill, raps openly about being bisexual. Bitches on my dick cause I’m severely intellectual/ Bitches on my dick because I’m also way bisexual. Her EP Reservation is due for release on July 17.

Mykki Blanco, born Michael Quattlebaum, performs in drag to portray his rapping female alter-ego. As Mykki, she describes herself as “cute and criminally insane.”
