Nathan Van Wilkins, 44, has been identified as the man who opened fire in a crowded bar in Alabama early Tuesday.

STORY: We Pray! Alabama Bar Shooting Leaves 17 People Injured

Wilkins was charged with one count of attempted murder and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $100,000 bail.

Investigators are obtaining 16 more warrants for attempted murder and a warrant for shooting into an occupied building. Once the warrants are obtained, Wilkins will have a bail of $1,730,000.

According to Tuscaloosa News, no deaths have been reported, but 17 people are still in the hospital after being wounded.

Police officials said they could not identify how many people were shot and how many people were wounded by shrapnel, but many hurt were in “extremely critical” condition.

Wilkins turned himself in at a FedEx in Jasper, Ala. Tuesday morning, owner of the store, Ken Barfield, told the Tuscaloosa News.

According to Barfield:

“He was walking across the parking lot and made straight eye contact…It was obvious he wasn’t shipping anything because he didn’t have anything in his hand. That was a concern off the bat.”

“He walked in and said ‘Yeah that’s me,'” Barfield, who immediately called the police, added.

Police have found 11 shell casings at the bar that will be compared to those found at the shooting 45 minutes earlier in a nearby neighborhood.

Thankfully no one was killed in Wilkins’ unspeakable assault.
