Lucy Walker’s name is on the credits for some of the most compelling documentaries of the decade. 

Born in London, Lucy studied at Oxford during her undergrad before ending up in the states on a Fulbright scholarship to study at NYU.

After supporting herself as a DJ throughout her graduate years in NYC, Lucy turned her attention to directing feature documentary films that would introduce viewers to a world unseen. 

Lucy is best known for directing her feature documentary films including Devil’s Playground, BlindsightWaste Land and Countdown to Zero and The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom.

GlobalGrind caught up with Lucy to talk about her latest project “The Responsibility in Sports Project,” a series of 4 short films that follows top international athletes on their voyages within their sport sectors and personal lives. 

Lucy’s documentary took her from New York to negative 40 in Mongolia, to Brazil and back.
