UPDATE 5:56 PM EST

Dane Cook took to twitter to tweet out the following apology:

I am devastated by the recent tragedy in Colorado & did not mean to make light of what happened. I made a bad judgment call with my material last night & regret making a joke at such a sensitive time. My heart goes out to all of the families & friends of the victims.

Dane Cook has no filter.

The actor/comedian took to the stage and cracked jokes about the massacre that took place during a midnight screening of Dark Knight Rises that left 12 people dead and 58 others wounded just one week ago.

Dane said:

“So I heard that the guy came into the theater about 25 minutes into the movie … And I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie, but the movie is pretty much a piece of crap … yeah, spoiler alert.”

Cook continued … “I know that if none of that would have happened, pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of crap, was probably like ‘ugh f*cking shoot me.’”

In the video you can hear people boo, while other laughed about the situation. While it’s just jokes and this is what Dane Cook does, do you think it is way too soon for this tragedy to be a joking matter?
