The 28-year-old Olympic swimmer, who says it’s “really pronounced ‘chea,'” has filed documents to trademark his fave word.

According to trademark documents obtained by TMZ, Ryan wants to use the word on sunglasses, workout DVDs, gift cards, mugs, drinking glasses, trading cards, calendars, posters, swimsuits, swim caps, sports hats, and water bottles.

Although branching out to other ventures is a brilliant idea on his part, Ryan’s not actually the first one to use the word.

In a 2009 interview, Ryan says he got the phrase from rapper Young Jeezy, who uses a similar word “Chea!” in his songs. Ryan says he changed it a little to “Jeah!,” meaning something “good.”

Does that mean Young Jeezy should get a cut out of the deal as well? After all, Ryan did bite off the rap game a little.
