Jonesboro police officer Ron Marsh has been reprimanded and will undergo more training after the shooting death of Chavis Carter.

STORY: WHAT?! Jonesboro Police Officer Cleared In Chavis Carter Shooting

According to KAIT8 News, Marsh was first placed on paid administrative leave after the Chavis Carter shooting, but now Jonesboro Police Chief Michael Yates said that an internal investigation found that Officer Marsh didn’t conduct a thorough enough search to find a gun on the 21-year-old before he was fatally shot in the head.

Police said Marsh patted Carter down twice, but didn’t find a gun before the shooting.

Last week, an autopsy ruled Chavis’ his death a suicide, even though they didn’t check for gun shot residue on his hands.

The report alleges the young man, who was pulled over by two officers, searched and placed in the back of a cop car, shot himself in the temple while still handcuffed. The other officer involved in the incident has been cleared of all wrongdoing.
