An autopsy revealed today that the official cause of death of hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty was a suicide.
As reported by the New York Daily News:
An autopsy revealed that Lighty, 44, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, a spokeswoman from the city’s medical examiner said.
Lighty — a veteran manager who helped the careers of 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Sean (Diddy) Combs and Mariah Carey — was found dead behind his South Riverdale home after an argument with his estranged wife on Thursday, sources said.
He had been arguing with his 36-year-old wife, Veronica, as he packed boxes to move out of the W. 232nd St. townhouse, the sources said.
His 17-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son left the home amid the spat and went to a park nearby to let the couple cool off, sources said.
But during the heated argument, Lighty said, “I’m tired of this,” before walking out to the backyard and shooting himself in the head, sources said.
The hip-hop world is still reeling from the death of Lighty. His stamp on the culture will never be forgotten.
