Fatima Gordon, a 28-year-old mom who was walking home from the store, was killed when shots rang out on a Brooklyn street.

STORY: SHE HAS A NAME: Amber Stanley Shot To Death While At Home In Her Bed

At about 9:05 p.m. on Clarkson Ave. near Flatbush Ave. in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, shots killed Gordon and wounded at least three other people.

As reported by the New York Daily News:

The dead woman was identified as Fatima Gordon by relatives. “My niece is a wonderful girl,” said the woman’s devastated aunt.

“Please not my niece. God, take me. She was just coming from the store. Her birthday is Saturday. She’s a wonderful mother – why her?”

Witnesses described a scene of chaos.

“There were six or seven shots,” said Kevin Fraser, 25, an office manager. “A woman was lying on the ground. She wasn’t moving. Another woman was tending to her and screaming,” Fraser added.

“A man walked out of the building holding his abdomen and climbed into an ambulance.”

Gordon was rushed to Kings County Hospital but could not be saved, police said.

Three other wounded people were being treated at Kings County Hospital: a 13-year-old boy with a graze wound to the back, a 29-year-old man shot in the abdomen and a 26-year-old man shot in the right forearm and the buttocks.

The gun violence in New York City has escalated like never before in 2012.
