According to NY 1, police told the emotionally disturbed man, named Walwyn Jackson, to drop the knife several times when they arrived to his house in Springfield Gardens.

When he refused, he then was said to have lunged at the police officers, which led them to use a taser.

The taser reportedly missed Walwyn, so an officer then shot him in the shoulder with one gunshot.
