Before there was 2 Chainz, there was Tity Boi. Before there was Tity Boi, there was Tauheed Epps. And apparently, Tauheed Epps was quite the basketball player!

Yesterday, ESPN released some cool old-school footage of the rapper balling on his high school basketball team back in 1995.

In the footage we see the rapper, who wore the number 21 for North Clayton High School, making a great defensive play on a alley hoop. In another instance, we see Tauheed pull off a slam-dunk. After the dunk, Tauheed proceeds to dance 2 Chainz-style (The game clock expired so the points didn’t count. But it was still cool.)

Following that video, ESPN put out a piece today titled “How Good Was 2 Chainz In Basketball?” where they tracked down the characters from his high school days.

In the piece, it’s revealed that after high school 2 Chainz ended up playing ball for Alabama State in the 1996-97 season, where he averaged less than 10 minutes a game. The season highlight for Chainz came when he scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 10 minutes of play.

All the people that ESPN spoke to basically confirmed that, yep, the Boi could ball.

North Clayton teammate Donald Cunningham described the young 2 Chainz’s game like this:

“He was such a good dribbler — all the fancy moves and the streetball moves like they’re doing now [in the AND1 videos], he was doing that 17 years ago. Behind the back and the no-look passes, between the legs. Spin it to you — he’d throw it out and it would come back to you like it was on a yo-yo. We just thought it was so smooth.”

While Alabama State’s head coach at the time, Rob Spivery, said this about the future rap star:

“I coached him for the year, and he played quite a bit for us. He was a tall, thin kid, very athletic and very good ballhandling skills. He was a very good, skillful player. I always liked big point guards. We had talked about playing him at the point guard position because of his ball skills and his passing and understanding of the game.”

Hey, ESPN: you think you got any footage of Rick Ross tackling dudes back in his high school football days just laying around?
