We’re coming on five years since Kanye West‘s mother, Dr. Donda West, died after complications due to surgery. To this day, you can tell that Donda is still on Kanye’s mind (he mentions her on the Cruel Summer cut “Clique”).

In the video, which was shot in 2003, and which is titled “Like Son, Like Mother,” you see the late Donda West trying to remember an old Kanye verse. She forgets a couple of parts, but for the most part she has the lyrics down pat.
What a touching moment. It’s clear as day that she was proud of her boy.
