There’s been so much drama and so much confusion in the past few months over the production of Aaliyah’s “alleged” posthumous album.

DETAILS: Missy Elliott Says She Has “No Clue” About An Aaliyah Album

Drake and his best friend/producer Noah “40” Shebib were named executive producers of the late great R&B singer’s posthumous album, and even released the first single, “Enough Said,” in August.

Many fans and critics weren’t too happy to learn Drake, and not Aaliyah’s longtime friends, Missy Elliott and Timbaland, was involved in the project.

Despite the many false reports of the Virginia duo working on the album, Missy and Elliott maintain that they’ve never received a call asking them to be involved.

When asked about Aaliyah’s alleged posthumous album, Timbaland revealed:

“I don’t think that’s even in the works…I don’t know. I think it’s blown out of proportion. I haven’t spoke to Drake.”

Missy Elliott chimed in and made very valid points regarding Aaliyah’s music:

“My response would be a little different because I have to respect her family and until they come and say we’re ready to do an Aaliyah album, then I don’t really want to try and get into that because it’s really sensitive. We’re talking about unfinished music and we don’t know her reasoning for not putting those records out. Maybe she didn’t feel like they were her best work. We don’t want to tap into that. It’s spiritually something else, very, very touchy—unless her parents came in and conducted that.”

DETAILS: Timbaland Says Drake Shouldn’t Do An Aaliyah Album Without Him Or Missy

When asked about Drake’s apparent obsession with Aaliyah, Missy said:

“I think the tattoo is uh real…ummm…you know what? Let me be quiet. You know what, he’s a human being too, and a lot of people might not have met Michael Jackson, but feel a connection with him.”

When asked if he heard Aaliyah and Drake’s “Enough Said,” Timbaland said, “I’ve only heard a snippet of it.” Angie Martinez went on to ask if he wanted to hear the song in its entirety, Timbaland quickly said, “No.”
