See what happens when you try to be shady?

DETAILS: SAY WHAT!? Chris Brown’s Album Gets Slammed With Warning Labels

It all backfires!

Over the weekend, GlobalGrind reported that an anti-domestic violence organization in London plastered warning labels all over Chris Brown’s latest album Fortune.

The warning labels read:

“WARNING! Do Not Buy This Album. This Man Beats Women.”

The activist group was trying to deface and discredit Chris Brown’s music because of his infamous 2009 domestic violence incident with his then-girlfriend Rihanna. But instead of discouraging people, the warning labels actually increased his sales.

According to PerezHilton, a store representative has reported the album’s increase in sales:

“We were as surprised as anyone when the stickers appeared. Obviously someone must have snuck in to put them on a handful of CDs, and although they weren’t up very long before staff removed them, the person responsible managed to take a snap and send it out to media.

“I guess they got their point across pretty effectively – with widespread coverage around the world, though, by the same token, quite a few more people now know there’s a new Chris Brown album out.”
