A top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton went off on a reporter in a series of emails when the reporter questioned the way he and Clinton handled the attack on the Libyan consulate in Benghazi a few weeks ago.

The email altercation began when BuzzFeed correspondent Michael Hastings emailed Philippe Reines, Clinton’s press aide and the State Department’s personal spokesman, on how the State handled the crisis in Benghazi, and about Reines’ own aggressive attack on CNN.
Within their email exchange, Reines became annoyed by the questions Hastings was asking and called him an “unmitigated asshole” which lead to harsh words between the two. The entire email chain is published on BuzzFeed, which ends with Reines writing:
And since Fuck Off wasn’t clear enough, I’m done with you. Inside of 5 minutes when I can log into my desktop, you’ll be designated as Junk Mail.
