GOP congressional candidate and Utah mayor Mia Love received a disturbing package of racially charged hate mail on Tuesday, according to Utah police.

The envelope contained a photo showing Love, her husband, and a hooded Klu Klux Klan member and pictures of an aborted fetus. Love, who is running to become the first African American female Republican in Congress, said the mail is a sign that she has become a target because she “poses a problem to the policies of the Obama administration.”

Love also responded:

“I want you to know, I want everyone to know I am comfortable in my skin. I’m comfortable and proud of my heritage. I’m proud of who I am. I know where I’m going and I know what we need to do to get this country back in order again. There isn’t anything that anyone can send me that will distract me from that so they can bring it.”

Besides the envelope, which was delivered to Love’s office in Saratoga Springs, the mayor has also been racially and sexually attacked via her Wiki page. Fox News reported that her page was vandalized after she gave a speech at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

This kind of behavior is inexcusable, regardless of race, sex, or political affiliation.
