During the next four years, 48,000 Americans will be murdered with a gun. During the next Presidential term, we will witness 48,000 funerals. Enough people to fill up over 200 movie theaters. 200 dark nights. One of the survivors of that dark night, Stephen Barton, who was shot in the face, has released a powerful, powerful video this morning asking for a plan. A plan from Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. A plan that will stop those 48,000 funerals. A plan to take illegal guns off the street. A plan to save the soul of our nation. A plan to put the NRA out of business.
As the two heavyweight kings battle each other on Wednesday night during the first Presidential debate, just down the road from Aurora; we too, the American people, must demand a plan. We stand with Stephen and all of the victims of that horrible night and all of the victims of other horrible nights across this country, and ask the two men vying for the office of the Presidency to present a plan to end the horrible disease of gun violence that plagues our country.
