LIST: 2012 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees

The 2013 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominations list has been announced, and to many people’s surprise, two controversial hip-hop collectives, Public Enemy and N.W.A., have made the nominee list.

For the first time in Hall Of Fame history, fans will be able to vote alongside the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame board, comprised of artists, historians, and music industry’s elite. Official inductees will be announced in mid-December, but fans have until December 5 to cast their ballots.

2013 marks a big year for hip-hop, with nominations of two of the most influential groups in hip-hop. Known for their politically charged statements and controversial music, Public Enemy and N.W.A. were once the most feared and revered artists in America.

Last year, the board passed on disco diva Donna Summer, but this year they’ve put her back in the running, along with The Marvelettes, Albert King, The Meters, Chic, and Heart.
