Lady Gaga knows how to have a good time, make good music, pick amazing costumes and apparently, keep the peace!

Today it was revealed that the Born This Way singer will be the fifth and final peace activist to receive the LennonOno Grant for Peace.

The LennonOno Grant is awarded by Yoko Ono in memory of her deceased husband and member of the Beatles, John Lennon. Gaga was considered for the award because of her activism efforts to ensure equality for gay, lesbian and transgender people.

In a press release for the LennonOno Grant, Yoko Ono said:

“Lady Gaga is one of the biggest living artists of our time.  She is not only an artist, she is also an activist, using her art to bring better communication to the world. She is being acknowledged for her activism, and how her album Born This Way has widely changed the mental map of the world. And how it has made us deal with the future world, which happens to be here already.”

Gaga joins Pussy Riot, Rachel Corrie, John Perkins and Christopher Hitchens as honorees of the prestigious grant. She has accepted the award and a donation in person in Reykjavik, Iceland, and will give the donation to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

We guess that the new “peace sign” tattoo she got on her wrist has a deeper meaning than we originally thought. Good for you Gaga!
